King William Transfer Station Site Improvements & Closures Notice

SITE IMPROVEMENTS AND CLOSURES NOTICE
To: Residents of King William County
Re: Site improvements and anticipated closures at the King William Transfer Station 2023

Dear Resident,

This memo is to advise you in advance of essential site improvements and expansion of the King William Transfer Station that will take place over the next few months. The project stems from population growth in the area placing a strain on the current capabilities of the King William Transfer Station. In order to better serve the community, a new drive-thru lane as well as additional equipment is being added to the current location. These improvements are anticipated to help the flow of traffic, increase the capacity of the site, and provide a quicker servicing time for residents.

This work will require closures at certain times throughout the project due to safety concerns. Notices of all transfer station site closures will be provided to residents as soon as possible to ensure open communication and to provide residents time to plan accordingly for their drop-off needs.

During times of closure, we encourage residents to utilize alternative convenience centers located within King William County. A map with convenience center locations, hours of operations, and materials accepted can be found on the Virginia Peninsulas Public Service Authority (VPPSA) website at www.vppsa.org.

We understand that this may be a short-term inconvenience and we hope to work together with you in a professional and amicable manner for the long-term improvement of your transfer station. The site improvements and construction have been streamlined and will occur at a fast pace to limit closure time. The length of the project is anticipated to be three months or less.

We thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this essential project for the community.

Sincerely,
King William County
Virginia Peninsulas Public Service Authority (VPPSA)
