Children’s Services Act (CSA)

The Children’s Services Act (CSA) is a Virginia law designed to help at-risk youth and their families. State and local agencies, parents and private service providers work together to plan and provide services that are child-centered, family-focused and community based to children who:

• Have serious emotional or behavioral problems
• May need residential care or services beyond the scope of standard agency services
• Need special education through a private school program
• Receive foster care services

Administration

In King William, this program is administered by local government and supervised by and housed in King William Department of Social Services. The CSA is driven by the philosophy that troubled and at risk youth are best served by a community system of care that is comprehensive, coordinated and responsive to the strengths and needs of troubled youth and their families. Implementation

Throughout Virginia, teams known as the Family Assessment and Planning Team (FAPT) and the Community Policy and Management Team (CPMT) implement the Children Services Act as specified by the Code of Virginia. The Children are most often served by multiple agencies in the community.

Fiscal Year 2022-2023 Meeting Schedule

• The King William Family Assessment and Planning Team (FAPT) meets the second Wednesday of each month at 9:30 am in the L.T McAllister Building located at:
