Code of Ordinances
The King William County Code of Ordinances can be accessed and searched online through a service called Municode. Municode is updated with new and changed County Ordinances affecting the Code several times throughout the year as necessary. Because the update process can take time, Ordinances which affect the Code and are not yet amended to the online code are listed here for your information.
Listed and linked below are the newest Ordinances which are in the process of being amended to the online Code. The Ordinances still carry the weight of law as of the date they were approved by the Board of Supervisors.
Ordinance 02-22 - Amending Ordinance 12-05 to Adjust the Boundary Lines of the Second, Third, and Fifth Election Districts and Updating King William County Code Article II School Board, Division 2 Elections, Sections 54-52 Election Districts Enumerated, and 54-55 Enumeration of Polling Places.
Summary: This Ordinance updates District boundaries as required by Virginia Code following the US Census Bureau's 2020 Census. It also updates and corrects the listing of polling place locations which was outdated. It was adopted by the Board of Supervisors on March 28, 2022.
Ordinance 04-22R - An Ordinance to Impose Property Tax Levies Upon Real Estate, Mobile Homes, Tangible Personal Property, Public Service Corporation Property, Machinery and Tools, and Aircraft for the Calendar Year 2022.
Summary: This Ordinance reduced the tax rates for Calendar Year 2022. Approved by the Board of Supervisors on April 25, 2022.
Ordinance 05-22 - Amending King William County Code, Chapter 78 Utilities, 78-245 Fee Schedule.
Summary: Adopted by the Board of Supervisors on April 25, 2022, this Ordinance increases certain Utility Fees.
Ordinance 06-22 - An Ordinance to Repeal King William County Code Chapter 10, Article II, Division 3, Sections 10-91 through 10-93 Regarding Dangerous Dogs.
Summary: This ordinance simply removes this section from the County code. Since County code must comply with State Code, there is no reason to have it repeated here. (Code of Virginia §3.2-6540 through 3.2-6544, 3.2-6562.2, and 18.2-52.2 relating to dangerous dogs.)
Ordinance 07-22 - An Ordinance to Establish Property Tax Levies Upon Tangible Personal Property for the Classifications of Vehicles as Listed in §58.1-3503(A)(3-5, 9-10) of the Code of Virginia for the Calendar Year 2022
Summary: This ordinance sets the personal property tax rate for a new classification of vehicles created by HB1239.
Ordinance 08-22 - An Ordinance to Update and Amend King William County Code Chapter 86 - Zoning
Summary: This ordinance updates select sections of the King William County Zoning Ordinance.
Ordinance 09-22 - An Ordinance to Update and Amend King William County Code Chapter 34 - Fire Prevention and Protection
Summary: This ordinance brings the code up-to-date with the County's current conditions.
